Where are the houses located?

Rakkahovi is just outside Levi ski resort on the outskirts of a small town called Sirkka in Finnish Lapland. Located within the Arctic circle.

Do the houses have parking?

Yes, both houses have room for multiple cars.

Which Airport do I need to fly into?

The closest airport is Kittila just 18km away, another alternative is Rovaniemi which is roughly 149km away.

How do I get rom the airport to the house?

If flying into Kittila, you have 3 options. Hire a car, take the bus to the main resort and grab a taxi or get a taxi directly to the house which is roughly 40-45Euro.

How far are the local shops?

If staying at Rakkahovi the local shops are about 2km away, these can be reached by the ski-bus at the end of the road or by taxi, and of course if you have a car then its a simple 5 minute drive. If you are staying at Samabailevi the nearest food shop is just 400m away.

Do the houses have bedding and towels?

Upon booking we ask how many people will be staying at the house and how much bedding and towels will be required, this is at an additional cost. This is done a checkout as many of our Finnish visitors will bring these with them.

How easy it is to get about?

It depends on whether you want to drive or not, driving will offer more freedom but local buses and taxi services are available. A Ski bus runs every 30 mins from the end of the road and will drive a circuit around the resort.

What winter activities are available?

Downhill Skiing, snowboarding, Cross-country skiing, Ice Fishing, Ice carting, Snowmobile safaris, snow shoes, Husky rides, Reindeer, Sledging, spa, Northern Lights and of course Santa.

What summer activities are available?

Golf, Mountain bikes, hiking, Nordic walking, kayaking, Adventure park, Gold panning, paddleboard, ferry cruises, lake swimming, river rafting, horse riding.

How far from the ski resort is the house?

The ski resort has 45 slopes, if you are staying at Rakkahovi the main ski rental area is 2km away (again this can be reach by the ski bus). Other slopes do come closer to the house but you will have needed to have rented skis prior if needed. If you are staying at Sambailevi the nearest slopes are just 300m away.

What Language do the Finns speak?

Finnish is the main language, however with the area being popular with many internationals many of the locals speak English, so nothing to worry about:)

Will I require travel adapters?

Yes, you will require the standard UK-EU two pronged adapter.

What clothing do I need to take?

Again depends on what time of year you decide to go, but if heading in winter then temperatures on average are around -15C to -20C in the early winter months. Temperatures can fall to -40C so make sure you pack plenty of layers.

Will I see the northern lights?

This much depends on the weather but on average the northern lights are seen within the local area 111 times a year.
